1979 Port Ellen 40 Years Old 9 Rogue Casks Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ML) was distilled at the original Port Ellen in 1979, these nine casks of whisky were discovered and brought together by the master distiller to craft a unique limited edition release: the oldest and most limited to date. Each cask was matured for at least 40 years before all nine were married together and bottled at a natural cask strength of 50.9% abv, free from any artificial colouring. Presented in a beautiful case, under lock and key, this release is limited to just 1,380 bottles worldwide.

One of the rarest and oldest casks ever to be released and made publicly available direct from the distillery. With only 1,130 bottles available across the world this is one of the last chances to own a part of Port Ellen’s history.

1979 Port Ellen 40 Years  is the second release in the highly collectable Port Ellen Untold Stories Series that explores the story of Port Ellen’s past ahead of the distillery’s return. Each precious drop of this exclusive 40-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is from 9 rogue casks. Dr Craig Wilson (Master Blender) has carefully selected nine special casks from the original stock, four American oak ex bourbon hogsheads and five ex Sherry European oak butts, to create a Port Ellen unlike anything seen from the distillery before.

The casks celebrate the distilleries soft peat smoke, rich sweet aromas, aromatic spice and wonderful tropical fruits. This is Port Ellens history and an opportunity to experience the next chapter of Port Ellen’s Untold Story.
